1. Hypothesis?
If a child sleeps less than 4 hours a day and shows symptoms of night terror they're grades in school would have a noticeable decrease than a child who sleeps a regular 12 hours?

Independent- The students sleeping pattern or signs of night terror
Control Variables- THe hours that a child slept

3. Connection

The experiment would aid me in the search for my answer in finding the most effective way to help in the development of a child as sleeping patterns of a minor could play a crucial role in a childs education which with this experiment i hope to answer.

4. Performing the experiment

With the help from my service learner first i will get the grades from all the students in the class and from there i will interview and average of students between the highest grades and lowest grades in class, I will ask them questions like how many hours do you sleep at home or do you have trouble sleeping at night or any complications when I gather that data i will have the teacher ask the students to keep a sleeping log for the students which they will have to fill out for about three to four weeks recording how many hours they slept at night and if they had any nightmares, after i get this data and gather i will hopefully find two type of groups between regular sleeping students and the kids that stay up throughout the night and from this and the grades i hope to prove my hypothesis.

Research Reflection

1) This passed month has been full time researching and volunteering trying to gain experience or new knowledge about my topic strarted from reading articles on child development to workking on an actual location helping real kids and applying the information that I gathered this past month into fluition. Well what my senior project has tought me the most is to value a childrens life or how serious is the responsability of educationg as well as teking care of another human being, because any little or small thing could impact the child forever.

   3) Out of all the resources that I've had the opprtunity to take a grasp on, to me the one that has made the most impact has been my service learning mentor Linda Garcia, she has been helping children for about 20 years know and all the experience she has and how she works with the children is just amazing, always giving me tips on what I could improve she's been a great resource in improving the knowledge on my topic.

Description

                  1. For my independent component I'm planning on taking child developing courses either online or at the FCC child development center in Pomona.

                  2. This classes take about 3 to 4 month period in whch you could take classes in early years on a childs development from its first 5 months to 8 years old and early teenage years from 10 to 16 years old, I'm planning to take either both courses or just the early childs development. The class takes and hour 4 days a week which I think will complete all the required hours.

                  3. My independent component will help me have a better understanding on a childs early development which would give me the skills or having learned this information will helo me one step closer to look for a good source of helping children with their development

Interview 1 and Presentation 1

1. In what way did the first interview affect your presentation? Please explain, be specific and use an example.

-  It gave me the idea or introduced me to where im going to be doing my hours at the childrens bureau in La Puente she explained what they do and their goal in preventing child abuse and giving kids the oportunity to prosper to a better future.

2. What you say stood out about your presentation performance and why?

- I actually thought i didn't do very well on my presentation i got nervous at the beggining and blanked out so there's alot i could improve on and hope to do better next time.

3. What was the most challenging to do and why?

-The most challenging was time management it was difficult on staying over or below the time limit as you wanted to talk enough but noit too long.

Rough Draft

1.Opening
   - I plan to strart my five minute presentation by asking three or four random people if they know the meaning of what child abuse is to them

  -then i will ask what do you think causes child abuse? followed by a quick explanation on child abuse and what it means to me

- Then i will talk about my definition of child abuse and try to make the audience understand what im talking to them about

-After that i will show my visual and explain why that object inspired me to pick the prevention of child abuse as my project

-To finish my presentation i will talk about organizations that help prevent child abuse or help kids recover from the pshysical or mental trauma they get when theyre abused
